TGI Friday’s Restaurant Trademark
In a bit of old news shot from the British, we find that TGI Friday’s restaurant attempted to restrict the use of “Thank God It’s British,” a restaurant services company from the United Kingdom.
TGI Friday’s held the viewpoint that because Thank God It’s British was a restaurant, there would be confusion between their TGI Friday’s US trademark and the British one.
The UK Trademarks Registry found Thank God It’s British to be sufficiently different to Thank God It’s Friday’s to avoid confusion.
FYI
